Every year the music teacher, art teacher and librarian at our school do interdisciplinary unit usually focusing on a country. I think that I might suggest that we make a music video with the art students creating the set, music students creating the music and perhaps having the librarian work with budding lyricists maybe researching traditional poetry for the country we choose. Our music teacher was thinking about Japan for this next year. I need to talk to her. That would be perfect.

Usually hands-on activities, things that involve color lights and sounds, allowing freedom of expression
Do what ways do your students use technology in school as opposed to outside of school?
Unfortunately students many times use technology to type reports and report out information, rather than to create and communicate with others.
What was one take away from this video?
We need to spend less time having students regurgitate information and more time having them problem solve and thinking creatively.

For my final project I'm planning a teacher workshop/ laptop roll out disguised as a "Laptop Luau"! Our new teacher laptops are smaller, lighter and have a web cam built in. This will be strange and new to most of our teachers as they just received their first laptops last year. These laptops were older, hand-me-downs from the high school and are not nearly as advanced as the nice new ones. I think it is going to be an exciting tool for my teachers. As part of the Luau I'm going to teachers to the built in mic and camera features on their new laptops by teaching to use them in their classrooms via podcasting and vodcasting.
